Cranes improve building transport firm14 September 2022

Yorkshire-based C&S Transport is using a FH 460 with a HIAB X-HiPro 1058 E-8 crane supplied by MV Commercial said to improve its lifting capacities.

C&S Transport is a haulage firm that specialises in the transport of portable and modular buildings.

The Volvo rigid is specified with NATO front legs that are expected to allow a 360-degree slew.

The HIAB crane, a product that is claimed to be capable of lifting 18,000kg at 4m and lifting 3,450kg at a maximum outreach of 19.4m, has increased the company’s potential to do more jobs involving heavy lifting at long ranges. The HIAB X-HiPro 1058 E-8 has also been fitted with a winch for improved working at height.

C&S Transport co-owner Matt Lassey said: “We can also be quicker and more efficient completing jobs. For instance, if we’re just doing lifts on one site, we often park the truck in one position and move it all from there. Before, you’d have to load everything on and keep moving the truck.

“The crane’s lifting capacity really saves us time and we can get more work done in a day.”

The FH 460 joins C&S Transport’s vehicle fleet, which includes three Volvo units with HIAB cranes, a DAF flatbed and an Isuzu 3.5-tonne Grafter. Each is said to cover around 90,000km per year.
