Dual energy concept for Brussels Motor Show 17 January 2013

Iveco's Dual Energy concept for light commercial vehicles, which made its international debut last September in Hanover, has been wheeled out this week for the 91st European Motor Show in Brussels (11—20 January 2013).

The system shown is on a lightweight hybrid diesel chassis, and Iveco says it will switch to the most appropriate power source – pure electric or hybrid thermoelectric – depending on the application.

The electric system is for urban or low-traffic areas, where the speed limit is below 50kph. Meanwhile, the hybrid has been designed for extra-urban work, reducing fuel consumption and emissions by 25%, compared to diesel engines.
