Electric vans join Alexander Dennis fleet09 February 2024

Alexander Dennis has introduced three electric vans to its AD24 fleet as its field service engineers complete training for the next generation of zero-emission buses.

Alexander Dennis employs 42 AD24 field service engineers across the UK. The first of them have completed all required training on the next generation of Alexander Dennis electric buses, ready to support customers as the new buses enter fleets in the coming months. A training plan is in place for the remainder of the team.

The three new electric vans have replaced diesel-powered vehicles and are equipped with the tools and equipment needed for field service engineers to attend to buses and coaches at customers’s premises as well as at the roadside.

Tony Davis, group aftermarket director for Alexander Dennis, said: “As we continue to lead the transition to zero-emission mobility, electrification for Alexander Dennis extends beyond buses themselves to the ancillary vehicles that support their operation. These three electric vans allow us to evaluate their operational performance ahead of future investment in our AD24 service fleet.

“Fully kitted out with the latest technology and tools, they are a fantastic working environment for our field service engineers as we upskill the team to support our customers in the operation and maintenance of our next-generation electric buses with the expertise they are accustomed to from AD24.”
