Euro 6 Iveco Stralis is sharp solution for Lemon Groundwork06 November 2014

Construction operator Lemon Groundwork Solutions has taken delivery of a Euro 6 Iveco Stralis Hi-Street rigid.

Supplied by dealer Acorn Truck Sales, the 26-tonne 6x2 rigid is an addition to the Wickford, Essex-based operator's 10-strong truck fleet and is mounted with a heavy-duty platform body.

A Hiab crane has also been fitted for loading and unloading steel reinforcements and groundwork products.

The operator evaluated three marques before deciding on the Iveco Stralis. Colin Prior, Lemon Groundwork's managing director, says Iveco's Euro 6 engine and the vehicle's reliability record clinched the deal.

"We liked Iveco's solution for meeting this new emission standard," he says.

"We could have rushed and bought another EEV-rated Iveco last year, but in opting for the Euro 6 Stralis, we are future-proofing ourselves for the next 10 to 15 years. It has also fitted perfectly with our planned strategy for fleet growth."

Lemon Groundwork is accredited to TfL's Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) and the new vehicle was specified to Crossrail standards.

Fresnel lenses and side-scan equipment produces an audible warning in the cab when a cyclist is on the left inside space.

It also incorporates under-run guards, as well as warning signs for cyclists and pedestrians.

Other features include reversing sensors, a hands-free telephone kit and a light bar, for maximum visibility at night.

A Cursor 9 engine produces 310bhp at 1,675 2,200 rpm and up to 1,300 Nm of torque at 1,100 1,675 rpm, driven through an automated ZF EuroTronic gearbox.

The Stralis Hi-Street will operate five days per week and is expected to cover 40,000 miles per annum.
