Frigospeed sees 50 per cent mileage increase on Continental tyres 10 January 2013

Refrigerated road transport operator Frigospeed says it has increased mileage by 55% since switching to Continental tyres.

The operator is currently in the process of replacing all tyres with Continentals following a successful two-year trial of HSR2s, with owner Tom Buckley determined to stay with the brand for the long-term.

"We were impressed with the mileage increase," explains Buckley. "They offer great value and are consistently helping us to reduce our fuel costs.

"We have already moved 75% of our fleet to Continentals, and as we change the remainder, we'll opt for Continental replacements," he adds.

Frigospeed predominantly uses new tyres for its fleet of 15 vehicles, selecting a combination of Continental HSR2, HD Hybrid and HTR2 tyres.

The company also gets monthly technical advice and visits from its local Continental truck sales manager. Tyre husbandry, maintenance and service are provided by Conti360 partner Heffernan Tyres in Kildare.
