IAA: Daimler firm to exhibit new e-truck 16 September 2022

Daimler Truck Fuso eCanter The vehicle is available with three battery pack options

Daimler Truck subsidiary Fuso (Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation) is to showcase its new all-electric light duty truck eCanter at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Germany.

The next generation eCanter will feature the eAxle, integrating the motor with the rear axle, allowing a more compact drivetrain structure. In addition to the current 7.5 tonne (GVW) model, the new vehicle comes in weight classes ranging from 4.25 tonnes to 8.55 tonnes. The range of wheelbases has also been expanded from 2,500 mm up to 4,750 mm.

The vehicle is available with three battery pack options based on the wheelbase. Vehicles equipped with a single battery will have a range of up to 70 km on one charger, while those with two batteries cover a range of up to 140 km. Trucks with three batteries can reach up to 200 km. The new model is also equipped with a power take-off unit which is said to enable solutions for customers wanting to operate their eCanter with a tipper, rear crane, or climate-controlled van body.

According to Daimler, this allows a greater range of applications for customers.

IAA will take place in the city of Hanover from 20-25 September.
