This model has become mandatory in the European Union for newly registered vehicles, and for all vehicles involved in international transport from 21 August 2025.
The SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph is said to provide a range of features that make it easier for drivers and fleet managers to comply with EU regulations and manage their vehicles more effectively.
The new tachograph is expected to simplify monitoring of driving times, rest periods, and breaks for drivers, while providing companies with easy access to fleet data for compliance with regulations. The Smart 2 is also compatible with Stoneridge's OPTAC3 web-based tachograph analysis system, offering fleets data reporting and analysis capabilities.
The SE5000 Smart 2 has an integrated Bluetooth/ITS interface, allowing users to download and share driver and tachograph data using mobile apps. The wireless data transfer allows fleets to exchange data with scheduling system or other fleet management systems.
The SE5000 Smart 2 tachograph offers new features such as GeoFix and position authentication via Galileo OSNMA. This enables automated border crossing and speeds up roadside cabotage checks by registering positions during loading / unloading. It is claimed to enhance monitoring of drivers' rest periods and driving times, preventing fatigue and improving road safety.
