Volvo Buses and China's SAIC Motors have formed a joint venture for driveline systems for hybrid and electric buses.

The new company, to be known as Shanghai Green Bus Drive System Co, will be 60% owned by SAIC and 40% by Volvo, and be based in Shanghai – where Volvo and SAIC have been operating the Sunwin Bus joint venture, one of the largest city bus manufacturers in China.
