IRTE Skills Challenge postponed to October19 March 2020

The IRTE Skills Challenge 2020 has been postponed from June to later this year, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement, the organisers said: “The Skills Challenge champions the vital work of bus and coach engineers throughout the country. It is important to us that everyone who wishes to take part can do so.

“As the Covid-19 situation develops, staff shortages, restrictions on travel and school closures will likely prevent some people from attending the competition in June.

“In response, we have made the decision to move the Skills Challenge testing week to 19-23 October 2020. The winners’ awards reception will now take place in November.

“Entries will re-open from June until September.

“We are confident that the 10th anniversary edition of the competition will be as successful as ever.”
