Krispy Kreme sweet on new Sprinter14 August 2018

Doughnut business Krispy Kreme has taken delivery of one of the first chassis cabs in the new Sprinter range, adding to its 60-strong fleet of 3.5, 5 and 5.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Supplied by Mercedes-Benz East London Van Centre, the latest addition, like its predecessors, has an insulated ambient box body and column tail-lift. The 314 CDI L3 long was fitted with its box body and 500kg Dhollandia lift by All Style Bodies, of Reading.

The new Sprinter promises a car-like driving experience with its interior features, and has 4G internet connectivity, Mercedes PRO vehicle management service and MBUX infotainment system with voice control.

New safety features include the autonomous Active Brake Assist system with its pedestrian recognition technology, and Attention Assist, which detects drowsiness in the driver and encourages them to take breaks when tired.

The new Sprinter is operating from Krispy Kreme’s Slough factory, one of 14, and delivering 4,000 doughnuts each day to multiple locations.

Krispy Kreme’s national transport manager Ben Povey says: “Product freshness is integral to our success – if a doughnut is not delivered on the day it’s made then it doesn’t get sold, so time is precious.

“We simply cannot afford to have vehicles off the road, and this – above all else – explains why we choose the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. It’s the best in class in terms of reliability and uptime, and essential to the smooth running of our business.”

The Sprinter is supplied on a lease purchase agreement with Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and maintained under a ServiceCare plan within the dealer network.
