MAN celebrates the technicians of tomorrow with apprentice awards11 August 2014

MAN Truck & Bus UK's leading apprentices were in the spotlight recently at the company's annual awards event.

All 130 truck and service centre apprentices – a record number – were recognised for their efforts, while individual awards were presented to mechanical apprentices in the three yearly categories, as well as to those in parts and business administration.

MAN apprenticeships are run in conjunction with Bristol's S&B Training Academy, which offers a purpose-built commercial vehicle workshop and training facility.

The awards took place at St George's Park, Burton upon Trent, home of the Football Association.

The event was hosted by TV's Helen Skelton-Myler. Guests included Alistair Peoples, chief executive at the DVSA, as well as representatives from the Society of Operations Engineers (the umbrella group for the Institute of Road Transport Engineers) and the National Apprentice Service.

Pictured with the top apprentices are Helen Skelton-Myler (front, centre) and John Davies, MAN's head of UK service (back row, left).
