Pete Waterman steams into Transport Trust09 January 2017

Pete Waterman OBE – best known as a record producer/songwriter, but also a railway expert – has accepted an invitation to become a vice president of the Transport Trust, the UK charity dedicated to the preservation of the nation's transport heritage.

“We are absolutely delighted that Pete has agreed to come on board: he has a very high profile in rail preservation and brings with him a huge amount of experience,” states Stuart Wilkinson, chairman of the Transport Trust.

“As an enthusiast myself it is so good to be asked to be involved in an organisation that is so dedicated to preserving the Transport Heritage of the nation,” comments Waterman.

In 2015, Waterman’s model railway collection – arguably the finest of its kind worldwide – made the headlines when he auctioned one tenth of it to raise funds to secure the future of the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust, which houses the remainder of his collection at sites around the UK.
