Top line-up for IRTE Conference 201614 June 2016

Transport for London, Reading Buses, Ricardo and Cemex are among the headline organisations presenting at this year’s IRTE Conference (28 September; Eastwood Hall, Notts).

‘Driving fleet operational efficiency, profitability and compliance’ is the central theme of this year’s conference. Visitors are promised a packed programme designed not only to highlight best practice and the changing regulatory environment, but also new and upcoming technologies aimed at cutting costs and improving competitiveness.

The technology keynote address will be delivered by Andy Eastlake of Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, who will examine the real-world implications of technologies ranging from multi-fuel engines to hydrogen power, hybrids, range extenders, platoons and autonomous vehicles – as well as smart logistics.

Senior traffic commissioner Beverley Bell will also outline the key strategic objectives of the traffic commissioners and will give a legislative update on operator licence obligations.

Other speakers will include: Ricardo’s Andy Noble on Euro 7 and its impact on OEMs and operators; Carlsberg’s Philip Thompson on using technology to transform fleet efficiency; Cartwright’s Lionel Curtis and Don-Bur’s Richard Owens on vehicle weight, profile and aerodynamics; and a session on selecting the rgith vehicles, routes and transport strategies from David Cebon of Cambridge University and Dr Phil Greening of Heriot Watt University.

There will also be a special panel session on CLOCS, FORS and safer lorries, with representatives from TfL, Travis Perkins, FORS, Dennis Eagle, O’Donovan and Cemex.

Delegates can select seminar streams during the afternoon to meet their own requirements, on subjects such as legislation, technology and operations.

The event is preceded by a conference dinner on 27 September, where winners of the inaugural IRTE Fleet Engineer of the Year awards will be announced by Beverley Bell.

Bookings are now being taken for the conference, which is presented by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) in partnership with MA Business (formerly Findlay Media), publisher of Transport Engineer magazine.
