Volvo Trucks to deliver 370 of its new EPA 10-beating to US Knight 10 February 2010

Phoenix, Arizona-based Knight Transportation is buying 370 Volvo VNs, equipped with SCR (selective catalytic reduction) engine emissions controls.

Knight has around 3,000 VNs, and Dave Williams, the company's vice president of equipment and maintenance, cites Volvo's EPA-10 beating SCR technology as a factor, since it doesn't consume emissions credits and improves fuel economy by up to 5%.

"We will gain fuel economy; we've tested the technology and we're comfortable with it. These trucks are better for the environment and they're better for us," says Williams.

So far, Volvo Trucks had produced and invoiced 85 EPA 2010-certified trucks for customers and dealers. The company says it will begin deliveries of these trucks in April.
