Watermills adds new trucks to its all-MAN fleet 05 March 2012

Water supplies specialist Watermills is adding three new MAN TGM 26 tonne rear-steer rigids to its truck fleet.

Two LX sleeper cabs have been bodied with cylindrical swap-body water tanks, while a single L day cab has been fitted with an elliptical barrel body for increased low-height access.

All the 26.340 6x2 chassis are powered with MAN low-emission EEV (enhanced environmentally-friendly vehicle) engines.

The Woking, Surrey-based company supplies drinking water by road tanker or bowser to music festivals, sporting events, film locations and constructions sites.

Managing director Adrian Mills says the firm selected the MAN chassis for their build quality, low unladen weight, and rear-steer manoeuvrability.

"Water is among the heaviest commodities for road transport," explains Mills. "So, a low chassis weight is critical for us. Our tanks carry 16 tonnes of water plus ancillary pumps and hoses, and the MAN TGM chassis meets the unladen weight benchmark."

Mills also cites poor access to some locatoins as being behind the choice of MAN's rear-steer specification.

"MAN's rear-steer capability will allow us to get on site with greater ease; whether it's on a mountain side or in a tight city centre mews."
