The Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) is the leading voice of the UK operations engineering sector. The Society believes that operations engineering is crucial to the success of the UK's infrastructure, and it exists to promote, support, regulate and professionalise operations engineering and the people who work in it.

SOE provides specialist knowledge and professional support to over 13,000 members worldwide. It works to promote safety and compliance in operations engineering for the benefit of professionals, employers, students and the general public. The Society aims to exceed its previous achievements and grow its membership offering, further developing a collective approach to address the problems of the engineering world through building shared knowledge and designing innovative solutions.

SOE now seeks to appoint a new Chief Executive, who will lead and develop the Society, upholding its charitable and professional status and developing and implementing policies for maximum growth and development. The Chief Executive will also promote and build the influence of the Society, lead the delivery of its 2020 strategy, and work with the Trustee Board to ensure that SOE provides first-class and growing services to all its members. Bringing the organisation with them, the Chief Executive will be able to translate vision into reality, in a pragmatic and effective way.

The successful candidate will be a natural leader with significant experience of growing a business or organisation, a track record of strategic planning and implementing change, and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. He or she should have excellent communication and networking skills, as well as energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to work with staff and volunteers as part of one team.

The Society offers a substantial remuneration package, including a generous pension.
