You may well be an existing Engineering Director and ready for a new opportunity, new industry or just a change of scenery. Perhaps you’re in an engineering management role and looking for your first step up to a director level role. Either way you’ll have a passion for engineering and ability to provide trusted and inclusive leadership to our amazing engineering teams across the Stagecoach South West business.
Speaking of the business, let’s tell you about Stagecoach South West…
Head-officed in Exeter but crossing from the north Devon coast to the South, our near-1,200 colleagues make sure our 30.9 million customer journeys are done so safely and with a brilliant experience.
We operate a modern fleet of almost 400 vehicles, and thanks to the fantastic work of our engineering teams we’ve achieved 99.2% reliability. As the new Engineering Director in South West, could you take us to the 100%?!
With depots in depots at Barnstaple, Plymouth, Torquay, Paignton and Exeter, we’re an integral part of the communities which we serve, connecting people through over 18 million miles of routes across Devon.
The South West business is hugely diverse – with both city and rural operations, and with the flagship Falcon service, if you’re looking for a CV building or career making opportunity, you’d be hard-pushed to find anything better!
So “what will I have the opportunity to do” we hear you ask!
Ultimately the business wants to provide real customer-focused services that deliver a safe, reliable, high standard travel experience at a fair and reasonable price. To achieve this you’ll be given the responsibility to coach and mentor the team of over 140 engineering colleagues to ensure we deliver the brilliantly maintained fleet of which we’re incredibly proud.
You’ll definitely not be locked away in an office every day.Visibility is crucial to the success of this role - plus it will give you huge variety and an incredible exposure to the whole business.
If you’re interested in this role we do need some specific experience:
We’d love someone who isn’t afraid to challenge the norm, thereby developing our processes to be robust, cost effective, and most importantly safe for our customers and colleagues.
As the focus of the role is both on the engineering and the director elements, you’ll need to be comfortable dealing with the people and change agenda, financial control, developing strategy, and the technical elements (importantly we can teach you the ‘bus’ bit if that’s not your engineering specialism – we’re open to all engineering backgrounds!).
And that’s about it!
