Arriva's UK Bus division is part of Arriva plc, one of Europe's leading transport services organisations. We are one of the biggest bus operators within the UK, employing around 17,000 people and running over 6,000 buses.
Arriva North East employs some 1700 staff and operates a fleet of 540 buses from 7 depots across the North East in Northumberland, Tyneside, County Durham and North Yorkshire. Committed to delivering a better service and challenged with growing the business we are seeking to recruit two Engineering Managers for our Newcastle depot, which also includes the companies Support Workshop and our Redcar depot reporting to the Head of Engineering.
The key duties of this position will be:
•Deliver and exceed high standards of customer service
•Work in partnership with Depot Managers to create a successful business unit
•Manage and motivating a team of technical staff
•To ensure that Company standards are adhered to and improvements identified in all aspects of the engineering facility including vehicle safety maintenance, inspection, plant and equipment, stores, health and safety, work quality, vehicle cleanliness and environmental responsibilities
•Ensuring the programming/preparation of vehicles to the Company's high standard for annual MOT test
•Ensuring all engineering KPIs/financial budgets are delivered
•Programming and overseeing preventative maintenance
•Ensuring that all vehicle records should be maintained to Department of Transport and Arriva Standards
•Compliance and adherence to Group and Company standards with regards to Health and Safety and quality engineering systems.
Subject to ever changing priorities and working to tight deadlines you need to possess a high level of communication skills. Experience of effective team management, high level of confidence, enthusiasm and persistence would make you an ideal candidate for this demanding position. You must have a proven track record of fleet management and preferably be recognised by the engineering Council and a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.
