Salary: £40,741 to £45,990 Hours: 37 hours per week Base: Northampton

Term: 12 months fixed term contract, which may lead to a permanent position.

Northamptonshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service are looking to recruit a Fleet Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract, (which may lead to a permanent position) to enable the County Council and Fire & Rescue Service to meet its core operational activities. This role is pivotal to ensuring the County Council has a fleet operation which is managed effectively and efficiently within a legal framework. This person will have dynamic leadership skills to lead significant change processes and embed sound policy and procedure into the fleet department.

The County Council and Fire & Rescue Service operate a fleet of approximately 200 vehicles, 15,000 equipment assets and 10,000 PPE assets. The fleet is a mix of LGV, light commercial and car based vehicles, these vehicles are used for Emergency and Non-Emergency Fire and Rescue and council business. The Council currently maintains the fleet through a combination of internal workshop facilities and external maintenance providers. It is looking to improve efficiency, reduce waste and critical vehicle failure events whilst in operation.

The successful candidate must have experience of people and budget management, information management and analysis, along with experience of operating a large and complex fleet. The Fleet Manager will be required to manage and co-ordinate the activities of suppliers and third party organisations in an effective manner, to ensure the Council achieves best value and the appropriate
quality of service.

You must have experience in a senior Fleet / Logistics Management environment equivalent to at least 5 years' and hold at least one Professional Fleet Management qualification i.e. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport or The Institute of the Motor Industry, Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in National Road Haulage Operations.
