This exciting opportunity would appeal to a Workshop Manager, who wants to move their career to the next level. The successful applicant will be required to manage a workshop maintaining a fleet of 500 Ambulances, varying from modular boxes, vans, minibuses and rapid response cars plus another 150 assorted cars, vans, trucks and twenty plus external clients. The work covers repairing running defects, PMI's, MoT Prep, servicing, minor bodywork and overall general maintenance. The workshop is open 18/7/365 and has 3 shift team leaders and 20 technical staff.
Duties include ensuring:
- The management of the workshops inclusive of staff and vehicle management
- All aspects of maintenance are carried out in an economic and timely manner.
- That the safe systems of work and pride in the fleet, ensuring SOP’s and JC’s are up to date for every task performed.
- That all routine inspections and maintenance of all vehicles to DVSA standards. i.e. vehicles, workshop, etc. are carried out to the highest level.
- Monitor and report on vehicle availability, contractors, and downtime.
- Manage the “in house” MoT test centre and DVSA/DVA booking system
- Maximising external labour and parts sales ensuring targets are met
The successful candidate must
- hold a full UK manual driving licence. ( preferably with HGV/LGV)
- hold NVQ Level 3 or be an IRTE qualified Commercial Vehicle Technician ( or equivalent) of have suitable relevant experience.
- Have significant experience in HGV and trailer maintenance.
- Have considerable supervisory experience in a workshop environment.
- be computer literate – Word, Excel, PowerPoint. To be able to produce meaningful reports
- Have FMS experience i - preferably Tranman.
