Based at the Force Collision Investigation Unit, Scientific Support Unit, St Asaph

Salary Scale SO1 (£26,394 – 28,107 per annum) on appointment moving up to SO2 (£28,947 - £30,633 per annum) after accreditation. North Wales Police is seeking to recruit a Forensic Collision Investigator, based at the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit, St. Asaph.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for the right individual to become a Forensic Collision Investigator. The role involves conducting detailed investigations into fatal and life threatening incidents involving motor vehicles by the application of mathematical principals to determine their cause and ensure the Force meets the criteria laid down in the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Protocol on Collision Investigation. Applicants will need to possess the following special requirements:- •Educated to NVQ 4, or relevant equivalent further education qualification, and/or an equivalent amount of relevant work experience. To have a proven mathematical ability by assessment as required. •Hold a current full driving licence and preferably also hold a Large Goods Vehicle, PCV driving licence, full motor cycle licence. To obtain and maintain a minimum Class 4 driving authority to drive police vehicles and to undertake further training with an option to reach an advanced driving authority. •Possess a practical ability or aptitude in relation to the examination of motor vehicles, their design, technology, construction and handling characteristics. •To have or to undertake to obtain the minimum qualification of being a Standard Collision Investigator and with the evidenced potential to acquire the City and Guilds qualification of equivalent within two years of appointment in accordance with the ACPO protocol. •To be computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
