Basic Purpose of Role
- To train and develop inspectors and engineers across UK Bus on bespoke courses with on the job assessment and post training accreditation.
Main Duties - As a member of the engineering training team to develop bespoke training courses for inspectors and engineers utilising manufacturers training material. - To deliver inspection, diagnosis and standard task training. - To assess trainees and accredit them after training. - To develop standard task sheets for standard tasks. - To evaluate the ILUO process in OpCos. - To develop training aids to support the bespoke training packages. - To keep up to date with bus technology and training methods. - To provide expert support to inspectors and engineers. - To liaise with suppliers and manufactures to ensure all training is current. - To work with the central engineering team to address tools, test equipment, publications plus system and component issues. - To contribute to the development of SOP's and TBT's. - To promote H&S awareness and Environmental policies throughout UK bus. Special Working Conditions - This is a mobile position requiring travel and staying away over night will be a normal part of the job. - The job often entails working unsocial hours in order to ensure the training and development coincides with the times staff are available in depots. Company Responsibilities - To undertake any additional duties at the request of your line manager, which is deemed to be within your competency. - To induct, manage and develop any personnel within your responsibility. - To adhere to all FirstGroup policies and procedures. - To undertake any training and development activities at the request of your line manager. - To comply with all Group Injury Prevention policies and support new initiatives. Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required - Must have previous experience of delivering technical training. - Must have a clean driving licence and current PCV licence. - Must have completed an indentured apprenticeship. - Must have spent at least 5 years as a skilled engineer working on either buses or trucks. - Must be a competent user of Microsoft Excel, able to manipulate and present reliability and maintainability data in tables and graphs. - Must be able to write reports as required. - Preferably experience in quality assurance. - Preferably a competent SAP/BW user. Performance Measures - Direct Objectives: Number of training courses developed. Number of training packages delivered. Number of standard task sheets written. Number of trainees accredited. - Indirect Objectives: Reduction in repeat fitments. Reduction in repeat defects. Reduction in NFFs. Improvement in MMBB. Reduction in labour hours.
