Surrey and Sussex Police, who operate a combined fleet of over 2,000 owned vehicles, are implementing a major change in the management and development of their transport function, to meet their operational needs going forward.
Reporting directly to the Head of Transport, the Service Development Manager will be responsible for managing a team providing vehicle research & development, acquisition and conversion expertise, as well as providing the administrative, analytical, and logistical functions of the Joint Transport Service.
The successful candidate will be IT literate; have an appropriate degree, and\or engineering qualification; and he/she will have good written and oral communication skills. He/she will be an effective problem solver; have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Ideally, but essentially, he/she will also have experience of managing fleet functions in a blue light organisation.
Applications will be subject to a short listing process followed by a formal competency based interview including a presentation. Please note interviews will take place on Wednesday 9th October 2013. The successful candidate will be employed by Sussex Police.
