HEG's 37 acre Eco Park plant is designed to process 35,000 tons of medical waste products each year, turning it into green energy and generating 2MW of electricity every hour.
As part of the group's energy efficiency ethos, its 100-strong vehicle fleet comprises a mix of vans and trucks optimised for pick-up quantities and material types.
Most, however, are RCVs (refuse collection vehicles), 32 tonne hook-lifts and double-deck trailers – all of which are maintained in the new workshop with its Stertil Koni lifting equipment.
As a result, HEG went for a mix of lifting equipment, including a set of six ST1075FWF wireless column lifts and Stertil Koni's SK2050 five-tonne, two-post ultra-stable lift plus ancillary equipment, including trailer beam sets, axle stands and small wheel adaptors.
The column lifts were selected for their configuration and lift versatility, with four or six available, depending on the vehicle (total lifting capacity is 45 tonnes). Technicians can operate the columns individually, in pairs or all at once, with no trailing power wires.
As for the two-poster, that was specified for its smaller vehicles – such as cars, longer, heavier vans and small lorries – with the arms and height adjustable to suit.
