Earlier this year, initial supplies comprised two 8.9m buses for the main Centrebus operation, two 9.7m length examples for the D&G Bus subsidiary, and a pair of 11.8m vehicles with six-cylinder engines for High Peak Buses.
Following their entry into service, Centrebus Group placed an additional order for a further six Alexander Dennis Enviro200, which were delivered within weeks thanks to the manufacturer’s availability of stock-built vehicles.
Built to the short length of 8.9m, they give the operator highly-manoeuvrable buses with a short wheelbase of just 3.9m which nevertheless seat up to 30 passengers in a bright and spacious interior.
All of Centrebus Group’s new Enviro200 are fitted with Alexander Dennis SmartPack efficiency technology, which combines engine stop/start, e-cooling and auxiliary load management to use 24% less fuel than a comparable Euro V diesel bus and to deliver a similar saving of well-to-wheel greenhouse gas emissions when tested over the UK Bus Cycle in Zemo Partnership testing.
Jim Bates, engineering administrator for Centrebus, said: “The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 offers us unique flexibility thanks to its availability in multiple lengths, including compact vehicles that are ideal for routes serving narrow roads in housing estates or rural services. At any length, the Enviro200 comes with plenty of seating and good accessibility, while the low-emission technology reduces fuel consumption and operating costs.”
