A total of 29 companies have been licensed. They range from large distribution firms including Wincanton, DPD Group, Freightlink, to high-street retailers Sainsburys and John Lewis, foodservice firm 3663 Transport, truck rental firm Fraikin, and construction and infrastructure supply firms Cemex UK Cement and BT.
The list provides a registration number for every operator licence registered at every company with the scheme (a total of 107). But there are big variations in the number of operators licenced. More than half (17) of the companies involved in Earned Recognition have only one or two operator licences registered; 11 have six or more. The maximum number appears to be eight.
Southeast England-based workwear and mats company Berendsen has the greatest involvement in the scheme, with 21 O-licences registered through three companies: Berendsen Workwear (8), Berendsen Healthcare (7) and Berendsen Hospitality (6).
Coach and bus firms are in the minority, with only seven O-licences at seven companies registered.
Also licenced, with two operator licences, is the City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.
The application window for the pilot scheme, which offers extra consultancy and advice, closes at the end of February. Interested parties should email remote.compliance@vosa.gsi.gov.uk.
DVSA continues to update the list of auditors and IT providers compliant with the scheme; as of the end of January there were 12 and 27 listed, respectively.
