Formed in 1978 by a group of manufacturers and importers, and backed by the Health and Safety Executive, ALLMI released its first code of practice in 1982, providing a benchmark for installation, testing and safe use of the equipment.
Notable landmarks have included the launch of the ALLMI training scheme in 2001, which has since expanded from courses for operators, to engineers and managers; and, in 2006, the association opened its doors to fleet owners, so ensuring it represented the entire lorry loader industry in the UK.
ALLMI chairman Mark Rigby says: “We would like to publicly thank our members for their support and involvement over the years – ALLMI’s longevity, evolution and success is a testament to their attitudes and commitment, and a genuine desire to see standards continually raised.”
The association is planning a commemorative event later in the year.
