Assist System Training opens HGV driver training and test centre

In a bid to help meet the transport industry’s urgent requirement for HGV drivers, Assist Resourcing and its national logistics training business, System Training, have opened a new driver training and test centre in Widnes.

The facility consists of three classrooms, an outside manoeuvring area, a fleet of HGV training vehicles and a team of experienced instructors.

It is also a DVSA (Drive and Vehicle Standards Agency) approved test centre, so wannabe drivers are now able to receive full training and take their HGV driving tests in one location.

Dave Dargan (pictured), CEO of the Assist Resourcing Group, explains that System Training is working with several employers to provide a young person’s Driving Goods Vehicle 12-month apprenticeship programme for HGV licensing.

“Our new Widnes centre will provide a springboard for the enhanced delivery of our driver services to regional and national businesses / organisations,” he says.

“With a growing team of experts and the inclusion of additional training capacity, we are playing our part in driving up standards and addressing the national driver shortage.”
