Bibby Distribution boosts payload and safety with new tankers

Tankers
Bibby Distribution has taken delivery of five new powder tankers, custom-designed by Feldbinder.

The tankers can each transport up to 63,000m3 and are designed to maximise payload and safety. They are based at Bibby’s Corby site and will transport powdered foodstuffs across the country.

Features include a lighter chassis, additional handrails and automatic sensors that lock the brakes when the handrails are raised. The tankers also have on-board weight indicators to prevent overloading.

“Our food and ingredient operations continue to grow rapidly, so by investing in additional custom-built tankers, our customers will benefit from even greater savings, flexibility and reliability,” says Vaughan Pendergest, head of Bibby’s food and ingredients business unit.

“The design process has resulted in a tanker future-proofed for all loading and load-type scenarios.”

The tankers join the operator’s 200-strong fleet, which is continuously being refreshed to maximise efficiency. Last year, the operator invested in 23 new juice tanker units that allowed the average load per tanker to increase by more than 4%.
