Bibby packs more productivity with LSTs for Tayto

Bibby Distribution has unveiled two new longer semi-trailers (LSTs), which have gone into service on its contract with crisp manufacturer Tayto Group.

Bibby's LSTs, built by Don-Bur, are part of the government's 10-year trial and are particularly beneficial for the Tayto contract, transporting low-weight, high-volume product.

Nigel Smith, Tayto's supply chain director, says: "The introduction of these two new trailers is very exciting for us at Tayto.

"Not only do they look fantastic with their new branding, acting as mobile billboards for our products, they also directly assist us in meeting our goals – which are to ensure our product reaches the customer quickly and in quantity, but also in a way that has the least impact on the environment."

The arrival of the two LSTs follows the introduction last year of a 'virtual warehouse' system, jointly developed by teams from Bibby and Tayto, and which has already cut 250 tonnes of CO2 from the crisp manufacturer's supply chain operation.
