Bibby smashes fuel costs for conservatory supplier contract

Tractor Units
Bibby Distribution says it has boosted fuel efficiency by 10% in three months on its contract for conservatory supplier Ultraframe, since taking delivery of eight new Renault Range T tractors.

The Range T 6x2 tractors are supplied on lease to Bibby from BRS Truck Rental, and replace older DAF and MAN models.

Paul Greaves, Ultraframe’s logistics manager, says: “Fuel accounts for around 30% of our total outgoing costs, so to reduce that figure with more efficient trucks is very welcome and a good illustration of how proactive Bibby Distribution are for us.

“We’re also very conscious of reducing our environmental impact wherever possible and these new vehicles help towards that goal as well. We’re really impressed.”

Each vehicle is also fitted with Microlise telematics: as well as providing performance reports to Ultraframe, Bibby uses the system to coach drivers on more fuel-efficient driving.

The vehicles are maintained at JDS Trucks & Vans in Blackburn, close to Ultraframe’s main warehouse in Clitheroe.
