On June 9, race truck driver Boije Ovebrink set a new world truck speed record in both the 500 metre and 1,000 metre standing-start events.
The event took place at Hultsfred Airport in Sweden, with Ovebrink at the controls of his new Volvo VN.
Race data showed an average speed of 130.862km/h over 500 metres and 166.698km/h over 1,000 metres, although they are yet to be reviewed by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) before being acknowledged as official.
The record is calculated on the basis of average speed over the course, but when Ovebrink crossed the finishing line he was clocked at just over 250km/h.
