BPW has announced that it has passed its 100,000 trailer axle milestone ahead of schedule, after a £1m equipment investment at its Leicester facility.
The company began to assemble suspension systems at its UK facility five years ago – a move that called for a £500,000 investment in equipment to assemble drum brake and disc brake axles for the Airlight 2 suspension system.
In November last year, it followed this up with a further £500,000 investment in a second jig to assemble the Eco Air Compact suspension system.
As well as boosting job numbers at the site, the company says it can now respond more quickly to customer demand.
Steve Turton, BPW's managing director, says of the achievement: "This is indeed testament to the skills of the UK manufacturing team. They were able to quickly adapt new processes and improve workflow to support and improve the continued growth of BPW."
