Brake aims to put stop to unsafe practices with vehicle maintenance seminar

Road safety charity Brake is staging a seminar next month to give transport managers practical advice and guidance on fleet maintenance and vehicle checks.
The seminar, entitled 'Maintenance and mechanics: how safe are your vehicles and who's checking them?', is sponsored by the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers) and takes place in London on 25 June 2014. It will cover the legal requirements for maintenance and mechanics, as well as employer responsibilities, including how to educate drivers to ensure they carry out regular vehicle checks and report any defects. Delegates will hear from an organisation that has implemented a successful policy and secured driver buy-in. "We are delighted to support this Brake seminar, which is in line with IRTE's aims of professionalising road transport through knowledge sharing, safety, skills and compliance," says IRTE's head of operations Ian Chisholm.
