Brakes Foodservice boosts productivity with bespoke truck

Brakes Foodservice has taken delivery of a bespoke vehicle specially designed for faster, more efficient city centre deliveries.

Supplied by dealer Guest Truck and Van, the vehicle is based on an IVECO Daily 72C18 chassis cab, with rear air suspension and an automatic gearbox, and has a payload of 3,240kg.

The dealer worked with IVECO and other suppliers over 12 months to fine-tune the design, which includes a walk-through body and nearside sliding door.

The adjustable load space enables chilled and frozen products to be held in a one-third/two-thirds configuration.

“We’re starting off with chilled at the front and frozen at the back, and have installed an air curtain between the load space and the cab to keep the different temperature zones separate during operation,” says Paul Vernon, the operator’s fleet engineering manager.

He adds: “Guests Truck and Van have been engaged with the project right from day one and followed this through at each stage.

“We are all really proud at seeing the finished product and how well this has come together.”
