Brighton bus operator picks up on benefits of Renault Kangoo ZE

Brighton & Hove Buses, part of the Go Ahead Group, has added six all-electric Renault Kangoo ZE vans to its fleet to support the workshop.

The full-electric Kangoo ZE is exempt from congestion charges and complies with the forthcoming ultra low emission zone standard. It is also eligible for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant and is exempt from vehicle excise duty.

“As a forward-thinking transport provider, we needed a van that not only worked for us financially but one that is moving the game forward,” says Steve Ambury, the operator’s engineering director.

“The Renault Kangoo ZE perfectly suits our requirements while reducing the company’s tax liabilities and carbon footprint.”

With its 33kWh battery pack giving 60% more range, Renault says the Kangoo ZE can achieve 124 miles in real-world conditions.

The vehicle is available in four variations: the Kangoo ZE 33 with two seats and load capacity of up to 3.6m3; the Maxi ZE 33, another two seater but with 4.6m3 load capacity; the Maxi Crew Van ZE 33, with five seats and a load capacity of 1.3m3; and the Maxi Crew Van Cab ZE 33, with a multi-positional bulkhead allowing a crew of up to five people or a load capacity of up to 3.6m³.
