Cambridge University is hosting a five-day professional development course later this year, focusing on the mechanics of heavy goods vehicles.
Staged by the University's engineering department and the Cambridge Vehicle Dynamics Consortium (CVDC), course content will include University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) training on heavy truck dynamics and will feature hardware and software demonstrations, as well as hands-on computer exercises.
There will also be a tour of the engineering department laboratories and demonstrations of CVDC computer-controlled experimental HGVs.
The event takes place from 7–11 July and will be led by three researchers in heavy vehicle dynamics: Chris Winkler, Tom Gillespie, and Steve Karamihas from UMTRI.
Intended for engineers involved in vehicle dynamics, design or equipment selection, the course is billed as a 'must' for anyone wishing to increase their knowledge of heavy vehicles.
The course fee is £1,500, which includes a manual covering all aspects of heavy vehicle dynamics. Special accommodation rates are available at the University.
