Chevron marks its place in sustainable road freight consortium

Texaco brand owner Chevron Lubricants has joined the industry consortium of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight, based at Cambridge University.
Established in 2012 by Cambridge University's engineering department and Heriot Watt University's logistics research centre, the centre is about making road freight economically, socially and environmentally sustainable. "We are delighted to welcome Chevron Lubricants on board as an industry partner," says professor David Cebon, centre director (pictured). "The centre represents the first time that a team has come together that combines both academic and industrial expertise, and it is that unique focus on development and implementation that will allow us to roadmap the road transport sector's path to meeting government emissions targets." The Centre for Sustainable Road Freight has secured funding of £6 million for its first five years. Other industry consortium members include the Freight Transport Association, Goodyear, Volvo Trucks, SDC Trailers, Haldex and Optrak, as well as major operators including Coca-Cola, DHL and Wincanton. The consortium is also supported by an advisory committee with members from the DfT (Department for Transport), Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders), Transport for London and the Road Haulage Association.
