Chilled food and drinks logistics business NFT has awarded an exclusive vehicle supply contract for 2014/15 to Volvo Trucks and dealer Hartshorne Group.
The deal kicks off with an order for 100 trucks over the next two years and covers all of the operator's 6x2 and 4x2 tractor unit needs.
Alfreton, Derbyshire-based NFT evaluated four manufacturers on criteria including price, cab ergonomics, fuel performance, vehicle terrain reactive cruise control and driver feedback.
Two Euro 6 demonstrators from Volvo helped to seal the deal.
"The partnership of both manufacturer and dealership was also key, including its approach to repairs and maintenance," says Andrew De'Vere, NFT's managing director for shared user operations.
"Volvo came out top of all suppliers, and in particular innovation and technology."
The new trucks are Euro 6 FMs with Globetrotter cabs. They feature Volvo's D11K, 11-litre engine rated at 450bhp. Each vehicle has Dynafleet telematics, the I-Shift gearbox and its I-See fuel-saving system.
The vehicles will be supplied on Volvo Gold R&M contract, which guarantees uptime.
