Cold Connect delivering ‘new standard’ in diesel-free refrigeration

Cold Connect says its manufacturing partnership with Swedish transport refrigeration unit (TRU) supplier Hultsteins is delivering “a new standard” in environmentally sustainable diesel-free systems.

Following successful demonstrations at the Commercial Vehicle Show, two new Volvo FH units have been fitted with Ecogen SG25 systems at the Hultsteins factory in Sweden.

Running the diesel TRUs using electric from the truck engine, Ecogen is expected to cut running costs by up to 85%, while bringing maintenance costs down by 50%. Furthermore, says Cold Connect, noise will be significantly reduced.

“Not only does Ecogen improve fridge efficiency and running costs, but also it reduces particulate output by 95%, CO2 by 85% and, in urban environments, drastically cuts NOx emissions – good for operators and the environment, too,” says Steve Maile, managing director of Cold Connect.

Hultsteins and Cold Connect have also recently installed a Green SG25 unit on to an LNG-powered IVECO tractor unit, which will soon be available as a demonstrator via Dawson Rentals.
