Costs cut after B&W switches tyre supplier

B&W Transport has switched to ATS Euromaster for fitting and servicing tyres on its fleet of 44-tonners since the national tyre specialist proved that it could save the family business thousands of pounds.
The Stoke-on-Trent-based haulier says it was convinced by data produced by ATS's Service Value Calculator. The software revealed that premium brand tyres, which can be regrooved and retreaded, alongside a programme of tyre pressure monitoring, could cut costs by £16,000 a year in fuel and tyre bills. "We had previously been fitting tyres that were more susceptible to punctures and blow outs," concedes Lew Weller, who owns of B&W Transport. "When ATS Euromaster highlighted how much money we could save – not just on our tyre bill but through improved fuel efficiency – from fitting better quality tyres and looking after them, it seemed like an obvious choice," he adds. Since optimising its fitment strategy, ATS Euromaster has commenced routine fleet inspections conducted by skilled technicians from its local centre, located just eight miles away, fitting a mixture of Michelin and Pirelli tyres to the fleet. And the benefits of the new policy are already beginning to show. After one of its first fleet inspections, ATS Euromaster identified 13 tyres for regrooving, re-positioned three tyres to balance wear, and repaired one tyre. That was instead of simply replacing all of the tyres, as had been the previous practice.
