Bathroom equipment supplier Crosswater has slashed fuel consumption by 20% across its commercial vehicle fleet over a two-year period, after implementing TomTom telematics.
The improved fuel performance – and the resulting drop in carbon emissions – has enabled the Kent-based operator to achieve accreditation to FORS, Transport for London's Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
Crosswater has boosted fuel efficiency from 25 mpg to more than 30 mpg by using TomTom's Webfleet system to monitor driver behaviour.
That, says transport manager Brett Westbrook, has made "a huge difference".
"We deal with over 850 jobs per day and without a telematics system in place, we were spending a lot of money on what we now know were preventable fuel costs," explains Westbrook.
The system's OptiDrive reports and dashboards profile drivers, highlighting issues such as speeding, idling and harsh steering or braking. This data is used to identify areas for improvement.
In addition, an EcoPlus device gives real-time information on fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions.
