From next January, all new 4x2 and 6x2 Euro VI heavy-duty trucks (16 tonnes and over) will need a CO2 emission declaration when they leave the factory. Other vehicle configurations will follow in 2020.
Emissions must be calculated using VECTO, the European Commission’s Vehicle Energy Consumption Calculation Tool, with the aim being to provide operators with easily comparable data on different models and manufacturers.
Richard Zink, member of DAF Trucks’ board of management, says the move underlines the company’s commitment “to protect our planet and our future generations”.
He adds that early compliance with the EU CO2 emission declaration will complement the brand’s TOPEC vehicle configuration tool, which already enables dealers to specify the best truck for a particular operation with specific fuel consumption projections.
