DAF turns to Microlise for dedicated telematics system

DAF is now offering "fully proven" Microlise telematics with its R&M contracts on new trucks (35% of all new DAFs sold and 100% of all new DAF tractors), at no additional cost.
The system, which has been tailored for DAF trucks, will be pre-installed and integrated with DAF's MultiSupport R&M to deliver preventive maintenance. Phil Moon, DAF's UK marketing manager, says that operators will get a weekly fleet summary report and be able to upgrade to access live data – including tracking and tracing vehicles and monitoring driving styles and fleet utilisation, via a web portal. And he adds that users can also specify the telematics system for DAF vehicles not maintained through a DAF MultiSupport contract – including on older vehicles. It's also being made available for other brands, something that many operators have asked for to give them visibility across mixed fleets. "We decided to work with Microlise since their system is ... already in use with some of our customers. The experts at Microlise have been able to tailor the system's usability ... for DAF customers while retaining its capability to handle a vast range of additional logistics tools," explains Moon. "Our aim has been to provide a tool that enables easy analysis of essential data about the vehicle and its operation from a maintenance and fuel consumption perspective, while allowing operators to add tailor-made packages to assist with their individual requirements and thus enhance overall fleet efficiency," he adds.
