DVSA updates guidance on defect categorisation

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has issued revised guidance on categorisation of defects in roadside checks and vehicle tests.

This guide outlines the actions to take when roadworthiness defects are found during vehicle inspections; DVSA says the guide will also be useful for operators and drivers, so they are aware of its standards.

The changes cover: tyre pressure measurement; engine malfunction indicator lamp defects and emission control system faults; assessing lighting defects and number plates; indirect vision devices; and modified seatbelts.
