Edbro lightens the load with upgraded CS18 cylinder

Tipping Gear
Tipping equipment manufacturer Edbro has launched a new version of its CS18 cylinder, which is 25kg lighter than the previous model and, says the company, offers increased capacity of more than one third when compared with competitor brands.
Its key design criterion is safety which, according to Edbro, comes from the cylinder diameter width. Lift capability for most cylinders is controlled by the effective working area of the smallest tube. The CS18 has a 105mm diameter small inner, compared to a typical competitor's 91mm. The CS18 is now the same weight as the lightest eye-ended trailer cylinders, giving a typical weight saving of 25kg against its predecessor. The saving has been achieved without compromising lift capacity or safety – it retains a safety factor of more than 50% at full load or full tip. The latest version of the CS18 continues to offer more than 33% additional capacity when compared to competitor brands, and will go into full production this year.
