Bart Van Rens, Ewals Fleetcontrol manager, says that the EU-wide truck tyre service package linked to web-based monitoring works well.
“Our cooperation with Goodyear is quite dynamic,” he says adding that years ago Ewals worked together on the development of the 435/50R19.5 tyre and more recently a version with a built-in RFID chip.
“We are convinced that the RFID [radio frequency identification] concept contributes to better monitoring of our tyres and, consequently, will reduce costs,” states Van Rens.
“Another great step forward is the newly-created Goodyear ‘eJob’ recording facility, which allows us to get instant information about any work being carried out,” he says.
Most of Ewals’ trailers are 100m3 mega trailers for which Goodyear supplies the high-mileage Kmax T RFID 435/50R19.5 trailer tyres.
The built-in microchips interface with Goodyear’s internet-based tyre management program FleetOnlineSolutions, and Van Rens says the result is reduced downtime, improved tyre management and greater security.
Meanwhile, Goodyear supplies its Ultra Grip Max dedicated winter truck tyres for trailers operating in the Nordic region.
