With Brexit negotiations still unresolved, the UK’s senior traffic commissioner is planning to temporarily amend the financial standing limits for operators.
The TCs recognise that HGV, bus and coach operators may have additional costs in the short term and therefore have difficulty meeting the financial standing requirements in the event of a no-deal Brexit.
If that happens, the senior TC will provide guidance to other TCs considering licence applications, permitting a grace period for standard operators without the necessary financial standing.
This will only apply for a maximum of six months, says the senior TC, and to cases where there are no outstanding road safety issues.
The guidance will also set out what operators need to do to request a period of grace.
The traffic commissioners are also reminding hauliers to keep up to date on the implications of a no-deal Brexit via the link below.
