First Mile returns to Isuzu for 7.5-tonne rigids

Rigids
Recycling business First Mile has taken delivery of six Isuzu 7.5-tonners, bringing the number of Isuzus in its 62-strong fleet to 20.

Supplied by dealer Cordwallis Commercials at Heathrow, the latest additions are all Forward N75.150 (E) rigids, fitted with Solent Bodies caged tipper bodies. For the first time, the tipper bodies also feature side bin lifts for on-street collections.

The first Isuzu 7.5-tonners arrived with First Mile less than three years ago and, says Lucasz Czech, head of operations, “have proven to be reliable in service and economical to run”.

He adds: “The Isuzu N75.150 trucks provide us with a very high payload for this class of vehicle, which means we have fewer trucks on the road and burn less fuel for each tonne collected.

“The addition of the side lifts has enabled us to be the only company providing London-wide daily food recycling collections.

The vehicles are expected to be in operation for at least five years, providing recycling collection services to customers in London and Birmingham.
