Volvo Trucks has announced that the first vehicles from its new FL Electric range have gone into operation with two customers in Gothenburg.
The FL Electric is designed for urban distribution, refuse collection and other applications, and has a gvw of 16 tonnes.
It offers up to 300km (185 miles) on a single charge, with recharging possible either via AC mains or DC fast charging. Charging times are said to be 1-2 hours (DC charging) or 10 hours overnight (AC charging).
A 185kW electric motor delivers 130kW continuous output, via a two-speed transmission. Maximum torque from the electric motor is 425Nm, and 20kNm from the rear axle.
Sales and production for the European market begins next year.
